Assemblywoman Nancy Pinkin, a resident of East Brunswick, was first elected to the General Assembly in November 2013 and re-elected in 2015.

The Assemblywoman runs her own healthcare and association management consulting firm and has an extensive background in healthcare administration, with an expertise in ambulatory care and medical practice management. She is also the Executive Director of the Middlesex and Mercer County Medical Societies.

Pinkin served on the East Brunswick Township Council from 2005-2014, including a two year term as Council President.

She received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers while working full time. She holds a Master of Public Administration with a specialization in health administration from New York University, and completed a postgraduate fellowship in Health Policy and Research at UMDNJ -- where she also served as health policy advisor to the late Senator Jack Sinagra.

As a legislator, she has sponsored legislation that would expand access to palliative care services in New Jersey, as well as curbing the use of solitary confinement in New Jersey’s prisons, required domestic violence awareness training for municipal judges, and make college more affordable to New Jersey’s students by expanding the use of online textbooks, eliminating meal plan to be required, and capping tuition rates.

The Assemblywoman is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American College of Healthcare Executives. She has been active in many community organizations including serving as a Girl Scout leader, citizenship badge instructor for Boy Scouts, Friends of the Environment, Central Jersey Business Alliance, and is a member of the East Brunswick VFW Auxiliary and the Middlesex 200 Club.

She received the 2014 Outstanding Women in Government Award at the New Jersey State League of Municipalities 99th Annual Conference in November 2014.  In December 2015, the Assemblywoman received the Good Scout Award by the Monmouth Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  The New Jersey Hospital Association received the Assemblywoman of the Year in 2016.

Assemblywoman Pinkin serves on the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee, the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee and as Vice Chair of the Assembly Homeland Security and State Preparedness Committee.

Her and husband, Dr. James Salwitz, are the proud parents of two children and two grandchildren.
